In 1972, when outdoor publicity was started, there was no hoarding advertisements in the state of Kerala. The first hoarding which was erected in Kerala was at the outside of Cochin old Airport as to be seen when you come out of the airport. The first hoarding was a vertical 10’ x 20’ hoarding of Toshiba Anand batteries showing a beautiful lady embracing a battery – vertical hoarding. Mr. Anand of Toshiba Anand batteries, when came with a group of Japanese partners was very much impressed by the hoarding and immediately sanctioned required funds to put up hoardings all over in Kerala. The undersigned who was then the publicity executive of Toshiba Anand batteries has opted to resign from job and to erect these hoardings all over Kerala.

This is the story of the beginning of hoarding advertising in Kerala. Later outdoor has put up the biggest hoarding in Kerala, at Vyttila junction of size 120’ x 20’. The heading picture of this is the obituary notice of the then MG. Partner Mr. Sreekumar. As was the first to start and had instruction by Toshiba Anand to put up hoardings all over Kerala, outdoor had erected hoardings from Kasaragod to Neyyatinkara. Today if you look at the outdoor agencies with hoardings in Kerala you will see that they are all localized agencies having hoardings only at their city and town the only outdoor agency that has got hoardings all over Kerala from Kasargode to Neyyatinkara – Outdoor Publicity and Outdoor Publicity alone.
